The real estate sector has an important part to play in reducing carbon emissions as around 40% of all energy consumption and approximately 30% of carbon emissions in Germany can be attributed to buildings. Conscious of our responsibility, our goal is to actively contribute to climate protection with our properties.
For our real estate projects, we therefore employ recognised sustainability certification schemes that cover a property’s entire life cycle. At the construction stage, we promote a circular economy by using sustainable materials from certified sources wherever feasible.
Our commitment to the environment also focuses on preserving biodiversity in the direct vicinity of our properties. When designing outdoor areas, we prioritise the use of native plants which have adapted to climate change and are insect-friendly. We also strive for all roofs to be greened extensively.
Diamona & Harnisch has been a leading project developer in Berlin since 2008. As well as to our excellent network of architects, experts and specialist companies encompassing all the skilled trades, this success is thanks first and foremost to our team of highly qualified employees. We offer an attractive work culture and fair pay, and actively seek to cultivate our employees‘ potential; to use the strengths of each employee productively is the ocjective.
In collaboration with our business partners and suppliers, we seek to establish reciprocal relationships of fairness and trustworthinness. Complying with social and environmental standards during construction and throughout the supply chain is therefore a matter of top priority. We require our partners abide by a sustainability-oriented code of conduct as a condition of working with us.
A strong ESG proposition is central to how we operate. We therefore established a dedicated department responsible for increasingly weaving ESG factors into our corporate purpose and performance, as well as to ensure meeting related targets on an annual basis. In order to implement ESG plans and align our strategy as effectively as possible, said department works directly with management.
We are also endeavouring to make our business dealings compliant with the EU Taxonomy Regulation. Our aim is to have transparent internal and external communication on all ESG-related matters. To ensure this, we will introduce regular reportings. We are uncompromising in our quest to maximize our compliance with legislation and regulations. We therefore formulated ethical benchmarks to measure our actions against. These benchmarks are to found in centralized policies.
Our activities focus on the high-quality development of timeless residential real estate projects that offer both owners and users a high level of comfort and convenience. We are aware of the impacts on the environment, people and society, meaning our actions are grounded in sustainable real estate development based on strategic ESG guiding principles. These guiding principles are embedded not only at the project level, but also at the company level as we see ESG as a comprehensive approach encompassing all areas of businnness.
