ENVIRONMENT

Pro­tect­ing the climate &
fos­ter­ing biodiversity

The real estate sec­tor has an impor­tant part to play in reduc­ing car­bon emis­sions as around 40% of all ener­gy con­sump­tion and approx­i­mate­ly 30% of car­bon emis­sions in Ger­many can be attrib­uted to build­ings. Con­scious of our respon­si­bil­i­ty, our goal is to active­ly con­tribute to cli­mate pro­tec­tion with our properties.

For our real estate projects, we there­fore employ recog­nised sus­tain­abil­i­ty cer­ti­fi­ca­tion schemes that cov­er a property’s entire life cycle. At the con­struc­tion stage, we pro­mote a cir­cu­lar econ­o­my by using sus­tain­able mate­ri­als from cer­ti­fied sources wher­ev­er feasible.

Our com­mit­ment to the envi­ron­ment also focus­es on pre­serv­ing bio­di­ver­si­ty in the direct vicin­i­ty of our prop­er­ties. When design­ing out­door areas, we pri­ori­tise the use of native plants which have adapt­ed to cli­mate change and are insect-friend­ly. We also strive for all roofs to be greened extensively.

Col­lab­o­rat­ing with fair­ness and
trust at the core

Com­ply­ing with social and envi­ron­men­tal stan­dards dur­ing con­struc­tion and through­out the sup­ply chain is there­fore a mat­ter of top pri­or­i­ty. We require our part­ners abide by a sus­tain­abil­i­ty-ori­ent­ed code of con­duct as a con­di­tion of work­ing with us.

A strong ESG propo­si­tion is cen­tral to how we oper­ate. We there­fore estab­lished a ded­i­cat­ed depart­ment respon­si­ble for increas­ing­ly weav­ing ESG fac­tors into our cor­po­rate pur­pose and per­for­mance, as well as to ensure meet­ing relat­ed tar­gets on an annu­al basis. In order to imple­ment ESG plans and align our strat­e­gy as effec­tive­ly as pos­si­ble, said depart­ment works direct­ly with management.

We are also endeav­our­ing to make our busi­ness deal­ings com­pli­ant with the EU Tax­on­o­my Reg­u­la­tion. Our aim is to have trans­par­ent inter­nal and exter­nal com­mu­ni­ca­tion on all ESG-relat­ed mat­ters. To ensure this, we will intro­duce reg­u­lar report­ings. We are uncom­pro­mis­ing in our quest to max­i­mize our com­pli­ance with leg­is­la­tion and reg­u­la­tions. We there­fore for­mu­lat­ed eth­i­cal bench­marks to mea­sure our actions against. These bench­marks are to found in cen­tral­ized policies.

Our activ­i­ties focus on the high-qual­i­ty devel­op­ment of time­less res­i­den­tial real estate projects that offer both own­ers and users a high lev­el of com­fort and con­ve­nience. We are aware of the impacts on the envi­ron­ment, peo­ple and soci­ety, mean­ing our actions are ground­ed in sus­tain­able real estate devel­op­ment based on strate­gic ESG guid­ing prin­ci­ples.
